Egbert Juffer LLCM, LVCM, AMusLCM, ATCL, FFSC, FGMS

Personal Life

Born in 1991, Egbert Juffer (Dutch pronunciation: ˈɛɣ.bɛrt ˈjʏ.fər) grew up in the Netherlands. Despite a difficult youth and estrangement from his family, he is grateful for the life he has been able to build, both personally and professionally — something that would not have been possible without the continued support of close friends.

In 2013, he moved to Scotland. After several years there, he lived in Sheffield from 2016, where he continued his musical studies. In 2018, he returned to the Isle of Skye, where he currently lives.

In 2024, both of his parents were convicted by the court in Rotterdam for physical and psychological abuse against Egbert and several of his siblings. As his father was a minister within the Restored Reformed Church, Egbert repeatedly raised concerns with the church, believing the church had a moral responsibility to act. In the spring of 2025, the Dutch daily newspaper (Nederlands Dagblad) published both a reconstruction and an interview about his experiences and the church’s response to the issues he raised. This coverage led to further interviews and articles in various media.

Despite the lasting impact of his early experiences, Egbert seeks to live with integrity and to use his talents to create music that enriches the lives of listeners.

Musical Education

Egbert Juffer began his musical education as a classical singer in the Netherlands, where he studied with several singing teachers including Annette Essers, and gained early experience in vocal performance and recording. During this period, a number of recordings were released, including the album Golden Christmas Classics (2012).

In 2014, Egbert continued his vocal studies in Scotland, where he studied classical singing with Ann Lampard. His formal performance training culminated in 2016 with the award of the Associate diploma in Music Performance (Recital) from Trinity College London, which he obtained with distinction.

Alongside his vocal studies, Egbert began a more in-depth engagement with music theory, literacy, piano, and composition in 2015 under the guidance of Gareth Green. These studies led to the successful completion of several formal qualifications, including Grade 8 Music Theory from the ABRSM in 2016 and the Associate diploma in Music Literacy from the London College of Music in 2017.

As his interests increasingly shifted towards composition, Egbert undertook further specialist study in this field. In 2017 and 2018 he completed several certificates in composition at the London College of Music, all awarded with distinction. This period of study culminated in the submission of a portfolio of original compositions, for which he was awarded the Associate diploma in Composition by the London College of Music in January 2019.

Egbert continued to develop his compositional craft through further portfolio-based study and assessment in the years that followed. In 2022 he was awarded the Associate diploma in Composition from the Victoria College of Music and Drama. In 2023 he was awarded the Licentiate diploma in Composition from the same institution. In 2024, he submitted a further portfolio to the London College of Music and was awarded the Licentiate diploma in Composition in October 2024.
