Today I received the Licentiate diploma in Composition of the London College of Music, for which I recently submitted a portfolio consisting of a varied selection of my works.
For the portfolio I selected 2 of my larger works for Organ, 2 works for Woodwinds - respectively a work for Double Wind Quintet and a Duet for Clarinet and Bassoon, an Orchestral work for Trumpet, String Orchestra and Timpani, as well as a Song arrangement for Voice and Piano. The submitted portfolio also included programme notes on and recordings of the pieces. Alongside the very positive marks for each individual work, the examiner described the portfolio as ‘a well presented portfolio, showcasing proficient writing and a good knowledge of structure and style’.
