Skye Air for Organ (Opus 47) played by Carson Cooman

A very nice surprise for me today, with Organist Carson Cooman performing another work of mine, this time the Skye Air, Opus 47.

As always I am grateful to Carson for performing another one of my pieces, but this piece is a bit special. I wrote this Air (other word for Song) for Organ on May 16th of this year as a tribute to Skye, the beautiful Island where I live and write my music. The melody of the Air is written with references to the characteristic Scottish Folk Songs, and the double pedal point in the pedals of the Organ resembles the drones of the Bagpipes. Carson captured the mood of the piece - and I would say of the Scottish Highlands - very well, creating a beautiful and atmospheric performance. Enjoy the landscape whilst listening to this piece…
